Family Law

The law governing family disputes and obligations is called Family Law.  Family Law includes divorce, adoption, paternity, child custody, child support, visitation rights, domestic violence, guardianship, alimony, pre-marital agreements, and disputes of unmarried couples, spousal support, and other similar matters. The jurisdiction of the litigation is determined by the domicile of the parties to the dispute, and most courts require that parties attempt to resolve their dispute through mediation before a case will move to a full trial before a judge.
